Wildlife Aware

TLC Wildlife Aware is a program for tree care professionals that teaches the laws and regulations surrounding the wildlife living in the trees that could be worked on. We offer classes at our Sims Tree Learning Center location in Riverside, California. Our speakers can also present our program to your company's employees at your location.

Susan is an Agricultural Biologist, minoring in both Plant Pathology and

Ornamental Horticulture from Cal Poly Pomona. Fields of study at Cal Poly

included entomology, soil science and forestry. Susan also attended U.C.R.

taking both Plant Biology courses, Wildlife, and Natural History fields of

study. U. of Virginia “Historic Landscape Preservation Institute” and American

Society of Consulting Arborists Academy. 

Susan’s many licenses and certifications include I.S.A. Board Certified Master Arborist & Qualified Tree Risk Assessor, Certified Urban Forester, California licensed Agricultural Advisor and Applicator. Susan has dedicated her life to the preservation of trees and wildlife. Gary and Susan Sims created Sims Tree Health Specialists, Inc. in 1972 to diagnose and treat stressed trees. In (insert date) they began Sims Tree Learning Center, a 6 acre botanical garden that houses many types of plants, trees, and wildlife as well as a research facility for tree health care. In 2012 Sims began working on the N. CA Tree Learning Center.

Nina Kidd, President of Kidd Biological, Inc. 

A Humboldt State University Graduate, Nina has been working in the consulting industry since 2000, assisting in biological resource impact analyses for large and small developers, municipalities, County and Federal agencies. Prior to becoming a consultant, Nina worked in natural history and zoological museums as a curator and educator. In 1994, with her biologist husband Jeff, by her side, Kidd Biological, Inc. was born. They have been providing solution-oriented biological consulting services in California and strive to protect wildlife.
